HARD and ROCK the sound of the energy

KRYPTERIA

Krypteria is a power metal band from Germany. Founded in 2001, the band is now fronted by German-Korean singer Ji-In Cho. In the beginning, the idea was to use different vocalists, though Ji-In assumed the role of lead vocalist in 2004. Prior to Ji-In joining as lead vocalist, Krypteria was a "pop musical theatre studio project". One self-titled studio album was released under this Krypteria moniker (alternately titled Liberatio).

After the formation of Krypteria the band, three studio albums and one EP have been released, the latest one being My Fatal Kiss of 2009.

They started in 2001 where Chris Siemons, Frank Stumvoll and S.C. Kuschnerus wanted to do a fantasy-musical CD. There was no vocalist at this time, because they wanted to record the CD with many different vocalists. In 2003, their debut Krypteria was released. Approximately one year later a large flood occurred in India, and the German TV station RTL asked them to record "Liberatio" as a benefit single. Shortly thereafter Ji-In was taken on as the lead singer of the band.

In 2005 their second album In Medias Res was released. It received significant public attention in Ji-In Cho's home country of South Korea, where their single "Victoriam Speramus" reached number one.

Krypteria's third recording was an EP entitled Evolution Principle, released in 2006.

On January 19, 2007, Krypteria released their fourth recording (and third full-length studio album), entitled Bloodangel's Cry. The title comes from the lyrics of the track "The Night All Angels Cry". Bloodangel's Cry is thus far the band's most successful work.

Recently in early 2008, the band announced that they are working on their fifth studio album My Fatal Kiss, which they are planning to release August 28th, 2009.

Ji-In Cho

discovered her passion for music as a child. When she was six years old, she started an extensive musical education including piano lessons.[3] Ji-In studied Music (Musikhochschule Cologne) and Theology (University of Cologne). Furthermore she has gotten a lot of experience in performing live on stage with several projects. Thanks to her extensive interests, Ji-In feels at home in almost all musical genres.

She appeared on many TV-shows and reached numerous chart positions (#31 for her cover version of Alanis Morissette´s "Ironic", #16 for the single "Don´t need your alibis" as a member of the band Become One). Thus Ji-In gained many experiences within the professional music business. Common appearances and duets with international stars like Phil Collins, Ronan Keating, Gareth Gates, Sarah Connor, B3, Tiziano Ferro, Ricky Martin, Mel Gaynor (Simple Minds), DJ Tomekk, Martin Moss marked a shaping influence on Ji-In's career.

Since December 2004 Ji-In has been the lead singer of the band Krypteria, whose single "Liberatio" was used for the charity campaign in aid of the Tsunami-victims in Southeast Asia. The outcome was proceeds of 11 Million Euro by selling 150.000 ] singles. "Liberatio" reached the status of a golden record and had the chart position #3 for many weeks. The second single "Victoriam Speramus" (published on April 4 in 2005) of the album "In medias res" (published on July 25 in 2005) made further chart positions possible.
