Septic Flesh are a gothic-influenced death metal band from Athens, Greece with dark and macabre synth atmospherics very similar to famed countrymates Rotting Christ.

Formed in 1990, the line-up stayed fairly stable over the years except on albums The Ophidian Wheel (1997) and A Fallen Temple (1998), which featured a leading female vocalist, Natalie Rassoulis. Their music combines hyper-fast technical death metal, melodic death metal, gothic metal, and industrial metal, a concoction that made them one of the most acclaimed yet still relatively unknown bands in extreme metal.

After nearly 14 years as a band, the group split up in October 2003. Chris Antoniou continued involvement with Chaostar, which he formed in 1998, and Katsionis remained as guitarist for Nightfall and Firewind. TheDevilWorx formed a year after Septic Flesh's disbanding, and featured some members from the original line-up. On March 2007, guitarist Sotiris Vayenas revealed his plans for a new solo project called Aenaos. At this point a promo under the title "Man with no Shadow" will be sent to labels as an introduction of this new musical entity.

On February 19, 2007, Septic Flesh announced a reunion for Greece's Metal Healing Festival featuring Orphaned Land, Rage and Aborted, set to take place July 20-22. On April 3, 2007, Blabbermouth.net reported the band reunited for a seventh full length CD under French record label Season of Mist. According to guitarist and composer Christos Antoniou, the release will feature a full orchestra and choir made of 80 musicians and 32 singers. SEPTICFLESH (now in one word) finalized the recordings of the new album in Studio Fredman in Sweden. According to the news of Season of Mist, the album is called Communion and will be released On March 2008..

CHAOSTAR

Chaostar is a Classical, Opera and Vocal Orchestra from Greece started in 1998, comprised of Christos Antoniou, Spiros Antoniou, Sotiris Vayenas, Nathalie Rassoulis, and Sapfo Stavridou. Several of the members are also members of Septic Flesh. They have released three albums on Holy Records, a fairly well known label with notable artists such as Elend, Orphaned Land, and Septic Flesh. They are sometimes considered a Septic Flesh side project.

History
Chris Antoniou, student for a long time in the largest universities of music in England, is the initiator of this new formation centered on the mixture of the classical music and the experimental music.

All the type-setters of Septic Flesh take part in the development of the compositions but Chris reigns as a Master and orchestra with as much of brilliance of the musicians resulting from a Metal set than of a Classique set
